What is a naming ceremony
A naming ceremony is a non denominational ceremony to celebrate a name, new life or even fresh start.
A naming ceremony can be an alternative to a christening or baptism, a celebration of a new name, fresh start, or as a welcoming of an addition to your family.
Naming ceremonies date back as far as Roman times.
There is no age limit for a naming although most popular in babies and childhood.
During the ceremony you may choose induct certain relatives or close friends as Guardians, or
Guide-parents like you would select Godparents in a religious ceremony. You may ask them to make promises/commitments to the named person to guide and support them during their life journey.
There are many rituals that can also be added to represent your family unit, the bond of siblings or joining families together.
The Process
We will communicate and arrange to meet in order for me to get to know about your family and the special one being named. We can discuss lots of ideas and options to include in the special day.
I will then design a personalised ceremony for you and assist you in choosing any readings or rituals you would like to include.
I will be at your venue on the day in plenty of time to be set up and be waiting to to welcome you and your guests before conducting the ceremony in the way you have chosen.
Package Inclusions
- Our initial meeting and then as calls or emails as you require before the ceremony day
- A personalised ceremony complied, written and delivered, to include all elements we discuss
- Use of PA and microphone, if required on the day
- Any readings or chosen words will be printed onto cards for the individual speakers to use
- Commentative certificate presented on the day for the named person and for any guardians as requested
- My arrival at your venue in plenty of time to set up and be ready to welcome you and your guests before we start.
